- International Baccalaureate (IB). The final two years of study offered by El Plantio International School follow the International Baccalaureate programme. This course incorporates the best practice of post-16 exam systems from many different countries, which gives the IB its international flavour: It is renowned internationally and is recognised by the best universities across the world. This pre-university programme of studies guarantees an outstanding academic level to our students compared to other traditional systems of education. International Baccalaureate students not only go through a highly demanding curriculum, but also will have to meet three added requirements to obtain the diploma:
Ø Students follow a Theory of Knowledge course aiming to stimulate critical thinking about knowledge and their experiences in and out the classroom Ø Students participate in CAS activities (Creativity, Action, Service) where through artistic productions, sports, and services to the community the youngsters put in practice their ability to share and help others. Ø Students write a 4,000 words Extended Essay, an original investigation helped by one of the school teachers who acts as a tutor. The students may choose from two distinct branches of study: Arts or Sciences. Within these areas of study there are further option subjects allowing the student to choose a course which is best suited to his/her plans for further education. Students with an International Baccalaureate Diploma can have access to the most prestigious universities, both public and private, in Spain and in other countries. The best guarantee of quality of this programme is the success our students have when they start their university courses after leaving our school.
