Pupils from 2 to 5 years old

Clase primariaThis Key Stage at El Plantío International School cover three year groups.

The pupils begin their school experience in Pre-Foundation (pupils of 2 years of age), continuing with Nursery the following year and concluding the Key Stage in Reception.

The teachers, supported by the classroom assistants in groups with a maximum of 25 pupils, ensure that the children at this early age reach the objectives elaborated by the Department for Children and Skills.

The curriculum, known as the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, covers the following areas of development: Language and Mathematical development, Knowledge and understanding of the world and Physical and Creative Development.

Aims

Clase primariaThe way of teaching in this Key Stage lays the foundation for the first years of their school life.

Acquiring routines and work habits as well as learning the basic skills of literacy and numeracy, all taught through the medium of English, are the principal objectives of this Key Stage.

The methodology used to achieve this is based on practical activities where the child always works as part of a team.
